And there’s no shortage of things to do in the surrounding area: cycling or hiking in the Touraine countryside, gourmet markets, natural swimming pools, not to mention the many charming little villages to discover. Loches is also well placed to visit other sites such as Montrésor, Chenonceaux and Amboise.
A few tips to make the most of your visit
Park at the entrance to the town and explore the center on foot, it’s much more pleasant.
Allow at least half a day to visit the citadel and its museums.
Try to come on a market day to enjoy the local atmosphere.
